1) Lie about your employment status so that the UI agency believes you are completely unemployed;

OR

2) Notify the UI agency that you are working freelance/part time but do not properly report all wages earned while collecting unemployment,

then you are committing a crime (unemployment benefits fraud). Depending on what state you live in, you may:

* have to repay benefits

* be permanently or temporarily (years) disqualified from receiving unemployment benefits in the future

* be fined

* be arrested and jailed
