I'm not sure about dogs but I know cats can cause birth defects. Call your doctor and vet!
*I've never heard anything about dog poop, but i have about cats, not the poop per say but the litter. It has something to do with whats in the litter not the poop. Another thing you should never ever handle when pregnant is rogain, that can cause birth defects for sure. I believe that you're looking for information on Toxoplasmosis is an infection that can threaten the health of an unborn child. It is caused by a parasite called Toxoplasma gondii. The parasite multiplies in the intestine of cats and is shed in cat feces, mainly into litter boxes and garden soil. You can get the parasite by handling cat litter or soil where there is cat feces. You can also get the parasite from eating undercooked meat (such as rare beef) from animals infected with the parasite. But just like the first poster said its always a good idea to talk to your family doctor.
There are rare conditions but it depends on how and what you do. If you are worried, ask your doctor the most common danger is contracting a disease called toxoplasmosis, which can cause miscarrage during pregnancy, of course cat must have, or be a carrier of this illness in order to pass it on. as said above, any concerns, best ask your doc.
i wouldn't advise letting them drink it but if it just gets on them, you should be fine if you gave them a shower right after. it is just pretty disgusting. it shouldn't hurt them.
