You most likely will keep the same rank. You might be able to get a promotion if the MOS you are going into needs people but the person that would have the best answer would probably be a recruiter or someone in your admin. might know.

As an E4, without a break in service, you should be able to maintain your pay grade, and remain an E4 in the Army. The Army has two ranks at E4 - Specialist, which is a non-NCO rank, and Corporal, which is an NCO rank. You would be a Specialist.

Corporal. Note: An E3 in the Marine Corps is called a lance corporal; a rank which to the best of my knowledge only exists in the British Army and the US Marines. A lance corporal is the highest enlisted rank, and a corporal is the lowest non-commissioned officer rank.

How do you abbreviate army specialist RANK?

SPC is the abbreviation for Specialist. Currently, there is only one grade of Specialist - E4. Specialist grades used to go all the way up to E9 (although the Specialist 9 or SP9 was only theoretical - nobody had ever actually been awarded that rank). At that time, the E4 Specialist was abbreviated as SP4. However, all the Specialist grades above E4 have since been done away with, so there was no need to indicate the pay grade with the rank, thus the abbreviation became SPC.

Can an US Army officer be a grenadier?

No. Grenadier is a squad level enlisted position. Some infantry units will have lower enlisted members of fire teams (ranging in rank from Private E1 to Specialist E4) serve as the grenadier, while others may have the fire team leader (ranging in rank from Specialist E4 to Sergeant E5) carry the M203.

If you join as an officer assigned to a parallel field to your civilian degree and occupation, you could receive a direct commission where your rank would be determined by your level of experience. If you went in as an enlisted soldier, you'd be a Specialist (E4).

What is a Corpsman in the Marines?

Corporal is the first rank considered NCO or non commisioned officer. What they do in the Corps depends on what military occupational specialty they hold. Typically the corporal will be supervising those beneath him, or enforcing orders issued by those above him.

Is SPC a rank in the Army like private or Sergeant?

Somewhere in between. If you did four years in university, got Specialist rank on enlistment for having a degree - you're basically an overpaid Private. If you've done your time, earned your E4 rank.. you won't be comparable to a Sergeant, but there'll be times when you may be tasked with leadership duties. Specialist rank is commonly referred to as the "sham shield", because an E4 is more easily able to get out of details than a Private, or even a Corporal or Sergeant, who is going to be tasked with supervising those details.

Rank below non-commisioned officer?

Generally referred to as "lower enlisted", and they are Category I in the Geneva Conventions. In the US Army, those ranks would be Private (E1), Private (E2), Private First Class (E3), and Specialist (E4).
