Unfortunately, yes, creditors can sue if the original payment agreements are not being met. It is unlikely that they would go to the trouble and expense however, especially if the account holder is paying in good faith, meaning that's the best they can do at this point in time. The best option is to discuss the situation with the creditor to negotiate terms that are acceptable for them and affordable for the consumer.
