Starvation
Eating 1200 calories a day or less is considered starvation for people who are under the age of 60. With a 1200 calorie diet you lower your metabolism and your body ends up becoming less efficient in its ability to burn fat. Let me tell you something. MORE CALORIES IS BETTER. The reason why more calories is better is that you keep yourself from starving and you get a sufficient amount of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals which boosts your metabolism. Eating more calories is most effective when you eat 5 - 6 small meals a day. For example, lets say you ate 2500 calories a day but ate 6 small meals. 2500 is a good amount of calories, but that's not important at all. For every meal you eat you gain a boost of metabolism and you burn more fat. That's why eating 6 small meals is so effective. The boost of metabolism that you get throughout the day from eating those 6 small meals outweighs the amount of calories you eat in a day. Also, keep in mind not to get alot of your calories from fat( don't eat too much refined sugar and carbohydrates either because they will make you fat )and also consider the times during the day that you eat because it does make a difference. You should eat at least once every 2 - 3 hours and no later than 8 p.m. because if you eat late at night and go to bed within a few hours, the food will be converted to fat. Also consider how you exercise and how much and/or how vigorous you're doing it.
