I think he just want some time with his friends, i belive you are together most of the time, so he may just want time to talk with them (boys talk), maybe about cars or who knows, but i realy don't think he's doing anything bad, just need to relax and think about himself for a while, or just take a beer with his friends, without having to be thinking about you, or you calling him, also he may just want to see if you trust him enough or not.
