Generally speaking, a judge will consider a 14-year-old's wishes. Of course, that doesn't mean that the judge will agree to whatever the child wants, it just means the judge will take the child's wishes (along with other things) into consideration when making the final decision.

in a divorce i have seen judges letting young ones live with the parent of there choice, but lets say the young one moves out you must report them as a run away. * The 18-year-old is a legal adult and can make their own decisions. The 14-year-old is still a minor and would not be allowed to choose with whom he or she wishes to live. The court bases such decisions upon what is in the best interest of the child and not on the preference of any involved party.

18. However the child is always free to make their wishes known to the judge, either in court when custody is being decided, by requesting a meeting with the judge, writing a letter to the judge expressing their wishes, or engaging an attorney or guardian ad litem to speak for them. The judge will take into consideration the wishes of the child, and generally, the older the child, the more weight is given to those wishes.

Ultimately, however, the judge will rule depending on what he or she feels would be in the best interests of the child.

No. You may want to live with a certain parent but you cannot choose. This is strictly a court decision.
