If your employer offers you a lessor job or less paying job and you do not accept it is that considered you quiting or is it termination?

[Edit]

Answer

Voluntary quit. You may not receive any UI benefits for quitting. Better to accept less pay than zero pay.

How do you Ask for demotion?  Why are you best considered for this job?  If your employeer offers you a demotion or a lessor paying job or nothing and you decline is that considered you quiting or is it being terminated and they have to allow your unemployement claim?  Do you have the right to a severance package if the company offers a lesser job in place of one being downsized?
