Gums can be sore in an area needing a restoration. This is due to increased plaque retention in the area due to the cavity especialy if it is in between teeth. If this generalized throughout the mouth it is a early sign of gum disease. If this is the case, you need to seek dental care ASAP. Bone lost due to gum disease will NEVER grow back. You may need non surgical gum treatment called scaling and root planing. This removes tartar and gets toxins off the root so the gum can reattach. It can also be gingivitis or a more severe form of gum disease. The best would be to have it checked by a dentist.

Jen, you need to get that area x-rayed by a dentist. I was an RDA in an oral surgery office for many years. It could be anything from eroded or thin enamel to an abcess or anything in between. If the GUM is sore, it could just be you slipped with your toothbrush. Maybe it's tartar or calculus. Does tooth hurt when you tap on it with the end of your toothbrush? Could be nocturnal bruxism. (Grinding your teeth at night.) The periodontal ligament could be thickened and that pushes the tooth up and you could be grinding on it. Just might need an occlusal adjustment. (painless) It could be an abcess draining from the root (dead nerve) of the tooth. Is tooth sensitive to cold? If tooth is sensitive to heat, and the pain from the hot food or drink lingers and throbs, it could mean the nerve is dying and you may need a root canal. Go see a dentist. They can look at your gum and take an xray of the tooth to determine if something is wrong. hope this helps. That pain can be many things: from gum disease to a cavity. The only way to find out the source of the problem is to have your teeth checked by a dentist. He or she might take an X ray to diagnose the problem.

Not really unless you don't go to your regular appointments and then it gets larger and then it hits the tooths nerve and really starts to hurt. Sometime you may think you have a cavity because it hurts so much but it could really just another tooth trying to come in!

More than likely yes, go see your dentist before it reaches the pulp and you need root canal treatment.

Does filling a cavity hurt and how does it work?

It shouldn't hurt at all, however, if it's a deep cavity, they might blow air into the cavity and ask you if it hurts. That's just probably to see that they won't be filling in a plaque filled cavity. All they really do is fill it with a substance and let it dry. Simple and Painless really.

What else can you do on a cavity tooth other than filling and taking out the tooth?

Yes there is, but it depends on the cavity, I once had a little cavity and they just sealed my teeth, if you get a big or spread cavity then you pretty much have no option, but anyway it doesn't hurt that much they once pulled one of my teeth when I was seven. I hope you enjoy and found this answer helpful.

Which body cavity is bounded by the ribs?

The Thoracic Cavity

Cavity in your back tooth and it hurtrs what can i do i dont want to go to the dentist?

The best thing to do is go to the dentist. Scince your tooth already hurts, I'm guessing it's already gotten pretty bad. If you go to the doctor soon enough, they'll give you a numbing shot and then drill the cavity decay from the tooth, clean the tooth and then fill in the cavity. The procedure doesn't hurt at all after the numbing shot, before the numbing shot they will give you a swab with solution on it that helps numb you gum so it won't hurt so much when they inject. Annd if you're worried about spending money to get the cavity fixed at the dentist, I say it's better to get it fixed than your tooth hurting. It's only going to hurt more and more. get your tooth fixed and take good care of your teeth so you won't get another cavity.
