Hector married a woman called andromache and together they had a child called scamandrius. He was nicknamed astyanax by the people of troy, meaning "lord of the city" as his father was a Trojan hero.

Astyanax was killed during the Trojan war by the son of Achilles, neoptolemus, who threw him from a wall when he was an infant. This was done for 2 reasons.

1. To prevent astyanax avenging the death of Hector (who was killed by Achilles)

2. To prevent astyanax becoming king of troy
