In the book, Lucy's secret is revealed by her sister Anne (also called Nancy), who is convinced that Lucy is so well liked by the Dashwoods that no harm could be done.

In the 1995 movie, Lucy tells Mrs Dashwood herself. She tells Mrs Fanny Dashwood, believing it to be a confidential conversation!! Mrs D becomes hysterical and throws Lucy out of her house.

In the TV serial of 2008, Lucy's sister Anne reveals the secret accidentally in the course of conversation.
