And Semana Santa(holy week), which takes place in April is probably the most significant religious celebration, a defining moment that sets Spain apart from the rest of the Catholic based countries in Europe. Flowers and light candles adorn huge floats featuring lavish life size statues of Jezus and Mary in tragic re-enacment of the holy week.
