I'm not sure if this is THE answer.
But clothes represent the restrictions society puts on people. People dress a certain way based on their station, on the occassion, etc.
So when Atticus loosens his clothing, he is loosening the binds of society and culture on himself.
The reason Atticus loosens his clothes is very simple, the jury is made up of farmers (they probley dont own suits) so to connect with them on a personal level and not seem condisending Atticus loosens and takes off his suit.
Atticus unbuttoned his vest and loosened his collar to convey a sense of informality and relaxation, signaling that he was not in his usual professional mode. This action also symbolized a shift in his demeanor and a desire to engage in a more personal and open conversation with his children, Scout and Jem.
he was humbling himself before the jury. he was trying to capture their attention and showing the jury he was equal to them as Tom Robinson should be to everyone else. He also changed his tone of voice. These things were easily noticed by Jem and Scout who know his habits very well. His unbuttoning of his vest symbolizes him shedding the discriminations of Tom Robinson and against blacks but of course no one ever has a change of thought
Atticus was showing that he was an ordinary person just like the members of the jury. By loosening his articles of clothing Atticus was humbling himself before the jury and he was showing that he was equal to these men just as Tom Robinson and the black community should be to Maycomb. This action was easily noticed by Jem and Scout who are aware of Atticus' actions and habits. The unbuttoning of his vest symbolized him shedding the discrimination of Tom Robinson and the African American community.
To show that he is relaxed, and not worried, even though he know it is the biggest speech of his life.
Atticus was trying to create attention to himself
In court Atticus unbuttoned his vest and collar, loosened his tie, and took off his coat. Scout narrates that she had never seen him do so in public or private before or since.
Atticus is usually dressed in a suit, but during his final summation in the trial, he loosens his collar, takes off his jacket, and unbuttons his vest. This physical act symbolizes his passion and determination to advocate for justice and equality, showing his emotional investment in his defense of Tom Robinson.
A shirt is an item of clothing that has a collar and may have long or short sleeves. A vest on the other hand, has no sleeves.
He unhitched his watch and chain and placed it on the table. He also unbuttoned his vest, unbuttoned his collar, lossened his tie, and took off his coat. He also started sweating.
It usually just goes under your shoulder pads, and through the neck hole. However, i recently managed to fit mine a lot more firmly, by removing the padding from my shoulder pads and lining up the collar's vest underneath the hard shell. I then cut two small slits in the vest to allow the padding to be reattached through the cowboy collar vest. The collar sits so much more firmly in the pads, and makes sure its giving you the full protection
Atticus's strategy in his closing argument is to appeal to the jury's sense of justice and reason. He emphasizes the importance of seeing beyond prejudice and making decisions based on facts and evidence, rather than on societal biases. Atticus also highlights the innocence of Tom Robinson and the lack of credible evidence against him.

We learn that he likes to use words of disappointment as a punishment rather than a physical beating. Atticus is also understanding and he saves Dill from being punished, even though Dill is not his son. He is also kind and loving. (:
A vest is used for both- but not the same vest. A bullet proof vest, and a life vest.
Vest's.
