Simple answer, no.
This OS is developed for a netbook style computer that typically does not have a DVD player. Yes you can install Chrome OS onto a computer with a DVD player, but I don't think Google is going to invest any time into supporting a technology that is going to be dead within a few years. They want you to watch movies on YouTube!

You could easily download Chrome for Ubuntu OS. It is available on the Chrome website as well.
Changing to chrome OS can replace your current OS in use, However, it will mainly depend on personal preference and your needs. The Chrome OS is based mostly off of the google chrome browser, meaning there is no ability to download any offline applications used on pc and Mac.
Though you can download Don't Starve as an app if you use the Chrome browser, it doesn't appear to suppoer Chrome OS. However, and this would be at your own risk, if you have installed ChrUbuntu in your Chromebook, it might be possible to play the app as it supports the Ubuntu OS.
