This probably depends on the astrologer reading the chart. As for me, I would include the Ascendant and Midheaven as part of a Grand Cross (or Grand Trine) since these are the most personal points in the chart -- they are based not only on date, but also the time and location of birth. On the other hand, I would not include the influence of a star whose aspects "work" only in a conjunction (squares, trines, etc. to a star are meaningless unless the star conjoins a planet, the Ascendant or Midheaven).
