Passageways - The Dude That's Friends with THE DUDE
In the membrane of a cell, channels serve as passageways.

The "cell membrane" is the cell that is embedded with channels.
its the cell membrane - not to be confused with the cell wall

protein channels
Most channels are made of specialized transmembrane proteins.

The cell membrane controls what enters and leaves the cell. There are protein channels within the lipid bilayer (membrane) of the cell. There are carbohydrate chains that hang off of the protein channels that identify each particle around the cell to make sure its what the cell needs, if not it wont let it in.
Referred to as either a cell membrane or a plasma membrane. Is composed of a phospholipid bilayer with embedded protein channels.
