The program, after having done some research, was in fact sponsored by Milton Bradley who made the board-game version which was, of course hawked on the program ( this would probably be illegal today) -called Host Selling. The MC of the program was one Stubby Kaye, who wore a sort of Carnival-barker minstrel suit as I recall, good as the show had a hokey Carnival-Fun house background. all of the action took place indoors- as I correctly remembered, and constestants walked about the live-action Shenanigans Board ( we can"t say Monopoly as that is or was a registered trademark of Rival game maker Parker Brothers.) the show , was in my period only aired once a week, on Sundays as I recall. it is hard to gauge popularity from such a limited airtime. unique it was, though there may have been a somewhat similar Puzzle palace- the prizes being Toy items, natch.
Well., this stretches the fabric like a tent roll truck! the Carnival was indoor- really closer to an interactive Fun House. the show was called Shenanigans. It was only on once a week ( Sundays as I recall) and the host of the program was a man called Stubby Kaye- no relation to Danny Kaye. it had a Hokey carnival background that was reminiscent of a live-action, walk around the board - sort of monopoly type board. different contestants were chosen from the studio audience. the only remotely similar program was the Puzzle Palace which is a mixture of a Chinese Auction ( guessing content of closed boxes housing gifts)- and sort of price is right idea- also indoor and angled at kids.l Neither show is still alive.
On the Wednesday before it broadcasts, which is on Sundays.

The word is normally used in the Plural- Shenanigans! of Gaelic origin, it was originally a phrase and is properly translated: I Play Tricks!) any sort of practical jokes, stunts, pranks, etc, usually on the wild side. Shenanigans was the proper name of a television show angled at kids. I seem to recall it was based in Florida, filmed indoors ( possibly in a disused warehouse or small shopping mall) and had a hokey Carnival background. Contestants tossed dice and walked around a live-action Shenanigans board- similar to a Monopoly board but themed to the S-game. The host of the program was a man named Stubby Kaye, not related to Danny. As was the case with Winchell Mahoney, Howdy Doody, et al, all of the action took place indoors. the live action board game was an unusual way to minimize this handicap. There was a board game version by Milton Bradley. It was on Sundays, Only on once a week.
