'The portrait of a lady' is one of the marvellous story I have ever been read . When you go through any work of any writer it becomes his /her duty to tie the
reader with his thought and make him feel so as writer felt at the time of emotion delivery .writer has done his job greatly on projecting a very picturesque portrait of h is grandmother ,each and every word was pregnant with tribute and extreme love for his lost Grand ma .In childhood he nurtured beneath the warm wings of his grand where he experienced his warm love ,affection and extra care that enables him to portray the picture of his grandma when she was not before his eyes ..
The sweet remembrance converted in to lacuna and to fill this ,he filled colour to his imagination "The portrait of the Lady"
In this story, the author describes a special bond between grandmother and grandson. He narrates how the relationship develops over the years, and changes as the grandson grows up and the grandmother grows older. Solitude and silence fill the grandmother's days as she distances herself from the real world. She now prefers the company of the gods and the birds. She enters a world of her own and is content with herself.

The portrait of Dr. Heideggar's wife on the wall (described early in the story) foreshadows the failure of the experiment because his wife had died of his own potion. Also, I read online that the rose also foreshadowed something, but I didnt care to figure it out. Hope that helped.
