No, 2x liquid detergent is simply the same stuff as before but concentrated. You use half as much and get the same effect as with the regular stuff.
There are a number of reasons for the switch. It greatly reduces the amount of plastic used in the country for containers. It cuts down on the amount of petroleum that is used in making the cleaning ingredients in the detergent. Companies can fit more of there product in the same space in warehouses, shipping containers and store shelves. There are more benefits but I think you get the point.
