The biggest competitor of Android is Apple's iOS 4 for the iPhone 4. It has almost the same technology and runs on comparable devices. Then we have Windows Mobile. Windows Mobile has a smaller market share than Android but it runs on roughly 20% of all smartphones. Next in line we have the OS' of phone manufacturers themselves. These are: Brew, Mimo, Symbian,... And last there are developpers' own OS' mostly derrived from linux. They also want to make a open source OS.
