Asia Minor consists of the country of Turkey and is located along the northeast coast of the Mediterranean Sea. This peninsula is formally Asia Minor although many people commonly refer to it as such. When people say "Asia", most of them get the conception that it refers to eastern Asia, the Asian countries along the Pacific coast when really, it extends out to Europe and Africa. Therefore, when referring to Asia Minor, "Asia Minor" is the proper and common term to use, as "Asia" will only refer popularly to the Asian countries along the Pacific. It is still correct to use "Asia", though, but only in context and factual information.
