No. Benazepril is an "ACE inhibitor" (angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor). Diovan is an "angiotensin receptor blocker" (ARB).

These two classes of medications are related in that they lower blood pressure by blocking the RAAS (renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system).

The brand name of benazepril is Lotensin. The generic name for Diovan is valsartan.
