Casey Anthony was found not guilty by the jury in the murder of two-year-old Caylee Anthony. Her body, when found, was too badly decomposed to determine the exact cause of death. The evidence in the case was circumstantial and the jury, although not sure of Casey's innocence said they was not enough information to prove her a murderer.

This case is very similar to the OJ Simpson case in the fact that public opinion and the jury's decision are going to be very different. The jury found her not guilty on July 5, 2011. Whether or not she is actually innocent is something that we will probably never know.

ADDED: A finding of Not Guilty (beyond a reasonable doubt) of a crime is NOT synonymous with stating that the individual is 'innocent' of the crime.

She birthed her now deceased daughter, Caylee, in August 9, 2005. Casey Anthony has been reported saying she would get pregnant to avoid the death penalty. It has not been officially announced that Casey Anthony is pregnant.

The case against Casey Anthony is currently in progress (May through July 2011 approximately) to determine her guilt or innocence. Under US law, a person charged with a crime is considered innocent by the court until such a time that a case has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt against them (that's reasonable doubt, not beyond a shadow of a doubt). When the jury delivers their verdict in this case, you will have an answer. You may choose to agree with it or not.

According to a jury of her peers, she was pronounced not guilty in the death of her child on July 5, 2011.

Added: Not guilty does not mean innocent or guilty but not convicted. What it does mean is that the prosecutor did not sufficiently prove his case to the satisfaction of the jury. Any failure here is his and that of the investigating officers.

Also added: I don't agree that the public officials in this case failed. I believe that they did an exceptional job with a difficult case. The resources wasted following up Casey Anthony's lies and the time it took to locate the remains of her child made it difficult to prosecute the case. The final outcome rested on the opinion of the jurors who brought their own level of understanding of the evidence that was presented. Not the evidence or, more importantly, not the public opinion that the rest of us were exposed to. I followed as much of the court proceedings as I could and tried to see the case from the perspective of only the evidence that the jury was provided. It was too difficult to do since I knew many things that the jury did not. There were a number of witnesses involved in the investigation that were not called. It's a judgement call of the part of the prosecution to evaluate how much is enough. Some of the witnesses called by the defense were easily refuted by the prosecution. Sometimes jurors can view this as lack of respect and has a negative impact on jurors. In my opinion, there was some basic belief held by some of these jurors that any evidence could overcome. Examples may be the view that prosecutors will make the evidence fit the accused in order to win a case; that the accused was illustrated as 'a great mom' and could never have harmed her child; that the illustration of Casey's parents as hiding something and therefor should be viewed with suspicion. These are examples only. Unless the jurors speak to the public, the overall decision made by twelve people with their own individual belief systems will always be guesswork.

In a US court the defendant is innocent until proven guilty. Casey Anthony was found not guilty of killing Casey Anthony because the jury said there was not enough evidence to convict her. Many people of the US are outraged and expressed their disapproval of the outcome on Facebook and Twitter.

Casey Anthony has been cleared of the charges of first degree murder, aggravated manslaughter, and child abuse. Jurors admit that the prosecution failed to produce evidence.

If you look at the facts it starts to make sense, if something like this can ever make sense. Statistics tell us that when a young child or infant disappears or is killed the 'inner circle' of people in the child's life is usually where you will find the guilty person. It is also true that some young mothers will harm their offspring for lack of coping skills. With age comes patience and any parent can tell you, you need it by the truckload. Most of these young mothers don't want to hand over their kids to parents or other family. That will make them look like a 'bad mother' to the rest of the world.

If you look at similar cases, Susan Smith a young mother that had just separated from her husband, Darlie Routier another young mother, she was married as a teenager. From several books about her life and crimes she was impatient and snappish to her two small boys. She sent them outside to play by themselves for hours at a time, and some of her neighbors would worry about them on their own for such long periods of time. They fit the same pattern as Anthony. In fact Casey Anthony might still be walking around a free woman but she stole her mother's car and helped herself to her mother's checkbook. That was the initial contact of police.

This is also a case of first degree murder. If she had spent as much energy taking care of her little girl as she spent on the net looking for ways to get rid of her this might not have happened This was a well thought-out murder. But she wasn't much of a criminal either. Most 7-year-olds know if you look something up on a computer you can't get rid of it by just hitting the erase button. She is also not much of a liar, not convincing at all. Second only to Scott Peterson. I think all of the above mentioned mothers really believed that everybody would believe their stories. It probably never occurred to them they would get caught. That is also a sign of immaturity.
