AT&T is working hard to roll out there own Television service but the infrastructure takes time to develop and even then there will be large portions of the country (rural) that will not have the fiber optics nessesary for television. This has been the reasoning behind any suspected buyout of a sattelite company. It would allow AT&T to offer the "triple play" package of telephone, internet, and TV services.
