Is Disney princess Jasmine the Princess of Bengal?

Probably not. I was under the impression that "Aladdin" was set more towards the western part of the middle east or perhaps northern Africa, rather than in India. The fact that Jasmine has a Bengal tiger as a pet makes determining a location rather difficult; but I don't think that Bengal is in the desert, which Agrabah decidedly is.
