Most Godzilla myths speak of the creature as being one of a kind or very rare. If there is only one of a species is goes without saying that it would be hard for the animal to reproduce. The typical explanation of their reproduction is they are in fact hermaphrodites. A hermaphrodite is an animal with both male and female reproductive parts. It has no need for a mate at all it has all the utilities to breed with itself. It can produce an egg then fertilize that same egg all by itself. Making it much easier to reproduce if it is a rare creature that doesn't often see others of its species.
