It depends on the amount. Tincture of Iodine is often used to treat water in survival/camping situations. Vitamin C(juice would work) can be added to remove the iodine taste and reduces the iodine to much less toxic iodide. The RDA of iodide is very low so if you are considering supplementing with tincture of iodine the dose would be very low. A 30 ml 2% bottle (4% iodide actually present) would have about 1.2 grams of iodine/iodides. The RDA is 150 mcg and 20 times that is considered safe. That 30 ml bottle is thus a 400 day supply of iodine at the upper limit dose. About 850 mg of vitamin C should render 30 ml of 2% iodine tincture to mostly clear and to the less toxic iodide. Using a 500 ml water bottle, 30 ml of water could be discarded then add 30 ml of 2% iodine tincture, then add 1000 mg vitamin C(store in refrigerator). 1 ml of this solution will now contain about 2400 mcg of iodide.
