A national accreditation is not the accreditation you should be looking for in an institution. When choosing a college or university, make sure the institution has a regional accreditation, which has a higher standard. With a regional accreditation, you can be assured the coursework and degree you complete will be recognized by all other colleges and universities as well as employers. Most all traditional colleges and universities of name have a regional accreditation.

Liberty University has a regional accreditation which is the most preferred accreditation for schools to have. It's accreditation agency is the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools which is one of six regional accreditation agencies that covers educational institutions in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands, as well as schools for American children in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. _______________________________________________________________

I agree with the above answer that Liberty University is indeed regionally accredited; however, they are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (which is also one of the 6 regional accreditation agencies), not MSACS. Liberty University is in Virginia. :)

Liberty is a private school, and shows accreditation from several institutions including BHEA and some regional bodies, and REDAC. In the end accreditation only means that some independent body has been paid to issue an approval. So don't get too hung up on it. It's of real importance if you want to transfer credits, and even if your school has a certain accreditation it doesn't mean you will be able to transfer to another school.
