Italy occupies the Italian, or Apennine, Peninsula. It is basically located in the southern portion of the middle of the continent. It is bordered by the Mediterranean.
It's about 30 minutes on the train - not far at all! Lake como is so beautiful, I went a few years ago and really want to go back. Lucky you if you're going there!
