Sounds like a Phishing scam to me... Look it up and learn. I don't know but even if he is you wont be the only person who knows his name. You could create a new, empty account and give the details of that. Then non of your money is at risk and, if it is true you can transfer the money into another account. Or you could ask them to send a cheque instead. This is very likely an attempt by unscrupulous people to trick you out of money.
It isn't indicated how this person is asking for the information, but if it is any way other than first class mail, you should consider it an attempt by someone to get at your money to take it from you. This is a scam that is often pulled on people. Never give your account information out to anyone over the phone or online. Banks do not operate that way.
