Obama has not explicitly stated his position for or against homeschooling. However, his position may be inferred by his close ties to, and 100% approval rating from, the NEA (National Education Association), as well as the NEA's public endorsement of Obama's educational reform proposals.

NEA official position on homeschooling (http://homeschooling.families.com/blog/a-response-to-the-neas-2007-2008-homeschooling-resolution):

"The National Education Association believes that home schooling programs based on parental choice cannot provide the student with a comprehensive education experience. When home schooling occurs, students enrolled must meet all state curricular requirements, including the taking and passing of assessments to ensure adequate academic progress. Home schooling should be limited to the children of the immediate family, with all expenses being borne by the parents/guardians. Instruction should be by persons who are licensed by the appropriate state education licensure agency, and a curriculum approved by the state department of education should be used. The Association also believes that home-schooled students should not participate in any extracurricular activities in the public schools. The Association further believes that local public school systems should have the authority to determine grade placement and/or credits earned toward graduation for students entering or re-entering the public school setting from a home school setting."

Excerpts:

"Sen. Obama gets it," said Dennis Van Roekel, president of NEA. "He knows that reform cannot take place overnight or by using quick fixes. Obama wants to invest in comprehensive strategies, both immediate and long-term, which will pay dividends for our children, our economy and our country."

I am a Republican and I fully support homeschooling. I know hundreds of other people like me. Is there any other question behind that question?

--

Well, no.. Not really.. I just wanted to know cause I live in Sweden and homescooling is unlegally here. So I wonder how it is in the US. If there's any party (among the republicans or the democrats that is against homeschooling. I have write a question like this, but instead of repulicans I ask if democrats is against it.) - I was just interested. + I love the US and I know homeschooling is legally there.. Yeah. :)

Thanks for answering my question!

I see. No, I don't think Republicans or democrats are against homeschooling, but from personal experience I think that more republicans are homeschoolers than democrats. I hope homeschooling will be legal in Sweden someday!
