I'm presuming you mean the BBC's production 'Sherlock'. In which case, it depends what you mean by original; The detective himself was created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1886 and has since then been recreated in many different forms, and was modernized a few times as well. The Sherlock team were the first to recreate him in what we now know as the modern day and there have been a few additions, for example the character Molly Hooper. The co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gattiss would be the first to say that they are very true to the original books, therefore there are many similarities, but the setting and the characters personas have been modified to suit the writers wishes.
