Is Sodium Nitrate harmful as found in hot dogs and other processed meats?

Answer

There seems to be multiple opinions on the subject. Some say there's nothing wrong, others claim that children who eat too many hotdogs end up with lukemia.

Answer

Processed meats aren't good for you and can be full of unwanted fats. Smoked meats are associated with bringing on migraines. I go by rule of thumb ... eating anything in moderation isn't all bad for you. If you just have it once in awhile that's OK, but if you live off it then you're in trouble.

Buying ROASTED turkey from a Deli (having it sliced) is OK and the same goes for chicken, but stay away from the sausages or packaged sliced meats.
