Though it is often said to have been originated in America, a number of other countries celebrate harvest related festivals and had done so long before the Pilgrims. Worldwide, harvest celebrations are observed with different names and at different times depending on the harvest season of the country.

It is celebrated in Canad on the 2nd Monday of October, In Liberia on the 1st Thursday of November, in USA on the 4th Thursday of November, and in Norfolk Island on the last Wednesday of November.
