In the record books the United States land area is bigger than China. However, the records (CIA factbook, Encyclopedia Britanica, UN et al)are flawed in their method of measurement: The whole of the US is measured but only the contiguous area of China is measured. If only the contiguous area of the US (48 states) was measured it is smaller than the contiguous area of China. If the whole of China including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau etc. was measured, the area would be larger than the whole of the US. So by record the US is bigger than China but in reality China is bigger than the US.
2ND Answer=With all 50 states I would estimate that America is about 630,000 sq miles bigger than china. With 48 states (WITHOUT Alaska AND Hawaii) I would estimate that America is about 20,000 sq miles smaller than china.
China has the biggest landmass in the world, at about 6 million sq km :)
united states is bigger because alaska and hawaii are also a part of usa making the states bigger
