Answer
Of the operating systems you are looking at, XP is the best currently supported option. This means having access to more software support than is available for the other os's you are considering. Your pc is capble of running it if it meets the specifications below.
Recommended system specs to run XP:
300 MHz CPU *
128 MB of RAM *
1.5 GB of available hard disk space *
Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter with at least 8 MB of video RAM and monitor
CD-ROM or DVD drive
Network adapter
Sound card and speakers
Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
Chances are your x20 is something like this:
ThinkPad X20
Standard Features
- One of the following processors:
- Intel Mobile Celeron 500 MHz
- Intel Mobile Pentium III 600 MHz
- ATI Rage Mobility M with 4MB
- 12.1" TFT display with 800x600 resolution
- 12.1" TFT display with 1024x768 resolution
- 64 or 128MB PC-100 memory standard
- 10 or 20GB HDD
My only suggestion would be to consider a ram upgrade if you have not done so already. Most current software is very ram-hungry so upgrading to whatever maximum would be a smart option to get the machine running as smoothly as its capable of with any OS.
