If you consider what a cult is and their teachings, Yes. They claim to strictly adhere to The Bible as their holy book, yet they teach that there are two Gods, one male and one female; The Bible only teaches of one Almighty God.

Isaiah 43:10 "You are my witnesses," is the utterance of Jehovah, "even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that YOU may know and have faith in me, and that YOU may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none.Source: New World Translation

Isaiah 45:21 Is it not I, Jehovah, besides whom there is no other God; a righteous God and a Savior, there being none excepting me? Source: New World Translation

Ex. 20:3 Do not worship any god except me. Source: Contemporary English Version

They also teach that the Mosaic Law which was binding only to Jews is now binding on everyone even though the Law was abolished with the sacrificial death of Jesus.

Col. 2:14 Having put an end to the handwriting of the law which was against us, taking it out of the way by nailing it to his cross; Source: Basic English

Rom. 10:4 But Christ makes the Law no longer necessary for those who become acceptable to God by faith. Source: Contemporary English Version

They, like many other churches like to preach that we are under the law so they make their converts feel obligated to tithe 10% of their income based on this scripture;

Mal. 3:10 I am the LORD All-Powerful, and I challenge you to put me to the test. Bring the entire ten percent into the storehouse, so there will be food in my house. Then I will open the windows of heaven and flood you with blessing after blessing. Source: Contemporary English Version

Of course, the only ones receiving blessings from this are the church leaders, who collect all the money.

They love to ignore these scriptures;

(Matthew 10:7-8) As YOU go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.' 8 Cure sick people, raise up dead persons, make lepers clean, expel demons. YOU received free, give free. Source: New World Translation

And

(Revelation 22:17) And the spirit and the bride keep on saying: "Come!" And let anyone hearing say: "Come!" And let anyone thirsting come; let anyone that wishes take life's water free. Source: New World Translation

In addition they teach that a Korean Man; Ahnsahnghong(1918 - 1985) was the second coming of Jesus Christ. This is based on Heb 9:28

But if you read Hebrews 9:28 (all of it) you will notice that Ahnsahnghong brought salvation to no one, but in fact died like any other sinful man.

Heb 9:28 So Christ was offered as a sacrifice one time to take away the sins of many people. And he will come a second time, but not to offer himself for sin. He will come to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. Source: International Children's Bible

Jesus was to die only one time to take away sins.

Mt. 24:23-25 23 "If at that time any one should say to you, 'See, here is the Christ!' or 'Here!' give no credence to it. 24 For there will rise up false Christs and false prophets, displaying wonderful signs and prodigies, so as to deceive, were it possible, even God's own People. 25 Remember, I have forewarned you. Source: Weymouth New Testament

The 1st century Christians were called a "sect" (Acts 28:22) and were spoken against, so being called a "cult" in our modern times is not necessarily bad. However, teaching contrary to the Bible is;

Gal. 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. Gal. 1:9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. Source: English Standard Version

There is much more to write about this cult, but I feel that what I have currently written is more than enough to give anyone looking into the WMSCOG pause for thought.

Why is there no difference between a cult and Catholics?

The Catholic Church is not a cult. It is the original Christian Church and traces its origins back to Jesus Christ and the apostles. To be honest, all those churches that split from the Catholic Church starting with the Protestant Reformation better meet the definition of cult.

Is the Community of Christ Church is a cult group?

That depends on your definition of a cult. The technical definition of a cult is "A system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object." by this definition, nearly every faith or religious group is a cult! The Community of Christ is a relatively small group which split off from another faith (Mormonism), but they are very open about their beliefs and most of their doctrines align with mainstream Christianity. They do not live on compounds or closed societies and participate in mainstream society. Check out the "Related Links" to go to their official website.

Is Mormonism a cult?

A cult is defined as a group of people who worship or follow a certain person or being. By that definition, every religion is a cult. Most of the time, people imagine a cult as a small group of people living in a secrative, closed society. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly called "Mormons") do not do this. They live regular lives, have everyday jobs, and participate in the cities and communities where they live. All are welcome to learn more about their worship practices and attend their worship serivces. They worship Jesus Christ and follow a living prophet, but they are no more a cult than any other religion. To see a video of Church apostle Elder Russel M. Ballard explain why some view the Church as a cult, visit the "Related Links" below.

Is the evangelical presbyterian church a cult?

No, the Evangelical Presbyterian church is not a cult. A cult usually is defined as having a single, living leader with a strong, magnetic personality and absolute authority over his (nearly always a man) followers. The Evangelical Presbyterian church is a fairly typical Protestant church of the Reformed Tradition with emphasis on personal salvation through a born-again experience. Just as significantly, Evangelical Presbyterians reject what they view as the "liberal" elements in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) such as ecumenism and tolerance of diverse theological opinions.
