Sadly, the answer is probably no. HD content is restricted to HDMI ports on all current equipment such as cable and satellite receivers and Bluray players. As HDMI was not introduced until 2005, a 2001 television will not have an HDMI port.
There are a few converters on sale that claim to convert HDMI signals to analog signals such as HD analog component or VGA. Although they appear to operate, they are sold against the wishes of the HDMI organization and as such, they cannot be guaranteed to operate in the future.
If the television has a VGA input, an HDMI to VGA converter might be a worthwhile experiment to try although at 9 years old, the TV may not have many more years of life left.

I honestly can't find any benefits. Projection Tv's are hard to find and expensive, while regular HDTv's have come way down in price. A good quality, decent-sized HDTv is less than $1,000. Projection Tv's are large and bulky. HDTv's are thin and sleek.
Picture Tube, Plasma, Liquid Crystal Display, Rear-Projection, Digital Light Projection, Liquid Crystal on Silicon and Front-Projection are the types of Current HDTV. The Front-Projection type is the most common and well-received.

An HDTV LCD projector can cost anywhere from $395 to $2,000 depending on the features and quality you are looking for. Hitachi and Samsung are popular brands for this product.
If it is a 3D projection HDTV just change your settings after plugging in the HDMI cable. Otherwise the PS3 does not play 3D without being connected to a 3D HDTV
No, you do not need a professional to set up a RCA HDTV. They are fairly easy to install.
For best quality, I would suggest the Mitsubishi WD-82838. It is the largest HDTV projection TV available with an 82 inch wall screen. It offers both great picture and great sound quality.
