they are both "associate degrees" one is for science, the a/s, and one is for the arts, the a/a....... the only difference is the "major" they represent.... does this tell you what you need to know ?

Its not that one is better than the other, but rather that they are slightly different. The AA is more of a theoretical approach where the AS is more of an exact approach and career oriented. Still, it is the institution and the department within the institution that decides.
