They both have identical functions for playback abilities. the FreeAgent Theater+ however uses an older external hard drive design (FreeAgent Go) for it's drive bay that has been discontinued. The GoFlex TV uses the newer external drive in it's bay (FreeAgent GoFlex) for it's drive bay that is their current standard, at least as of this writing Jan 2012.
Both also have USB 2.0 ports that allow playback from most any external hard drive whether it's made by Seagate or not, so even if you don't have a drive that fits in the bay you can still use hard drives via USB.
At this time both have been discontinued and SeaGate has given no indications of bringing back any version of them. I use mine still for playback of my videos that I've converted from my DVD collection as it's much easier to carry that around than a library of discs, and I will probably continue to use them for a long time to come.
