Most diseases can be both non-lethal or lethal, depending on factors such as:
- the patient's prior health status
- the patient's pre-existing conditions such as COPD
- the patient's overall condition such as hearty or debilitated
- the patient's age - elderly often have a more difficult time with lung conditions
- whether the patient is bedridden or can stand/sit independently
- whether the bronchitis has a bacterial or viral cause
- the patient's immune system
