It is good for millet and is not good for other plants. It is a weird subject. Millet grows faster when coca cola is added. No, I do not think that it helps plants other than millet. Water is best for plants.

Soda may produce a hypertonic environment, which would cause plant cells to lose water and wiltcertain types of soda, such as Coca Cola and Sprite, in fact, have a negative effect on plants! We all know that plants need water and carbon dioxide to live, but soft drinks cause infection to plants by weakening their immune systems, as well as kill the roots. My results were that the Coca-Cola plants died quicker, grew smaller, and did not grow more leaves.

Can soft drinks help plants grow?

Coke Does Not Help Plants!I honestly don't believe Coke or any other soft drink is beneficial to the growth of plants. IN ADDITION:The water in the cola is the only thing beneficial. The sugar in the cola will attract insects to it, so no help there. The acid in the cola is beneficial to the soil but not in enough quantity to make any difference other than combined with the sugars it will start premature decomposition of the mulch and other groundcover. A soft drink is a good compost starter as a decay activator in a compost pile but not very beneficial to a plant in general. Some plants grow well with ginger ale poured into the ground near them.Coke is very acidic and will kill plants. Coke will dissolve a copper penny. Coke will also help to loosen up rusty nuts and bolts.A lot of soft drinks are very acid, not just coke, and will kill pants.

Does Coca Cola affect plant growth?

Coca-Cola or WaterI do know from an experiment that Sprite or Sierra Mist will preserve cut flowers. Coca-Cola is saving crops in India! Check it out on the web!!!Coke Used as Pesticide in IndiaWhile it is true that Coke is saving crops in India as mentioned on the web, it has nothing to do with using Coke in place of water. The reports are that Coke is being sprayed on the plants to control pests with amazing success. Whatever is causing Coke to be a good pesticide would also cause it to be a very poor choice for watering your plants. Stick with water! Natural vs Pesticide Laced SoilI have recently heard about an alarming discovery. It seems that the use of pesticides, which now may include Coke in India, is one of the contributing factors to our crops in the US having less nutritional value. The report I saw on some news channel said that scientists have found out that pesticides are killing off the micro bacteria in the soil that helps plants utilize its minerals and nutrients. They are speculating that this is one of the major causes of the reduction in nutritional content in our fruits and vegetables. WATER

Why coke cannot replace water for plants?

Coke cannot replace water for plants for several reasons. Coke, as all carbonated beverages are, is acidic which is no good for most plants, and although it does contain trace minerals like phosphorous in high quantities, it also contains citric acid and high concentrations of sugar, which the plant does not need.
