Best Answer

No. There are 4, sometimes 5 ranks of General that are higher.

(brigadier general, major general, lieutenant general, general, and general of the army)

Colonel is the highest non-Flag/General officer rank. All the Generals must be nominated by the President and approved by the Senate. Colonels do not require this.

This is filed under US ARmy and US Navy, so let me clarify.. A Captain in the Army is pay grade O3, whereas a Colonel in the Army is pay grade O6. Colonel is the higher of the two. Which is higher rank in US ARMYColonel vs major rank?

It depends which country and branch of service one is speaking of. The American military does not have the rank of Major-Colonel, the ranks of Major, Lt. Colonel and Colonel all out rank a Captain, unless the Captain is Navy or Coast Guard, then he would be equal in rank to the Colonel. In US Military, in all but the Navy, the order of these three ranks from lowest to highest is: * Captain * Major * Lieutentant Colonel * Colonel A Captiain in the Navy is the equivalent in rank of a Colonel in the Army, USAF or USMC

What is Cadet lieutenant colonel?

Very basically speaking, the difference is one step in rank. While a Lt. Colonel is normally referred to a Colonel, a Colonel is sometimes to referred to as a "full bird colonel" to distinguish the difference. In the Army at least, a Lt. Colonel wears a clover leaf rank insignia (silver, I think) but a full Colonel wears an eagle insignia, hence the reference "full bird."
