Some countries call the leaves 'cilantro' and the roots and seeds 'coriander'. Other countries simply call the entire plant coriander but refer to the specific part of the plant i.e. coriander leaf, coriander root and coriander seeds
They are not equivalent. Ground coriander is the seed whereas fresh coriander is the leaf of the plant. They are different flavors and cannot be substituted.
Coriander is a herb. We can use all of it. Seeds are suitabe for storing, the bottom part (roots) is mostly used in Asia. Leafs can be used to, but in our country, we use mostly seeds:)
