it depends, i am a life guard and an EMT and i get my cert for free because of that but unless you are in a job or organization that covers it you have to pay to take the class and become certified. My mother works for a school and she was able to get certified for free because the school recommended it and there by covered the cost but if you have no organization or job that will cover it you cant just go some where for free you have to pay to have the class and then become certified afterwords
