Is crap rude?

Answer:
It is an example of vulgar, common language. It is not the worst or most shocking of words in the English language. It can be used as a relatively mild expletive, it can refer to garbage in a generic sense, or it can refer to excrement. It is a valid word and certainly brings with it a distinctive tone of familiarity among friends, and of insulting rudeness in settings where being polite and considerate are essential.

If I were in a formal or professional setting and I heard a person using this word seriously or frequently, I would not think well of the person. An extremely skillful speaker with a deep grasp of rhetoric might be able to use the word in a humorous or ironic sense and get away with it, but a person with that kind of skill would surely find better things to talk about.

Craps is a common gambling game played with dice.
