Is downloading music haram in islam?

In: Islam
[Edit]

like illegally downloading music? i would think so since its like stealing...
on the topic of listening to music though i believe its allowed as long as you dont listen to songs that are based on bad stuff (ie drugs, sex, booze, having atheistic messages) and it is not haram as long as it does not interfere with your duties as a muslim such as praying on time and living a good life.
for me, i also have a lot of questions like this and a site that has helped me a lot was islamonline.net
trained muslim scholars help you find an answer that are within the limits of islam on everything from whether or not to shave your legs or how to help quell your doubts about the existence of God
i hope u find ur answer
