They are different, auto trans use hydraulic oil or ATF ( automatic transmission fluid ) and manuals use that or a very thick version of gear lube like 80w-90.
As a 20 yr mechanic...my opinion is NO . You get what you pay for. Buy quality oil, quality filters and change your oil regularly every 3000 miles. Cheap oil breaks down quickly. So protect you best...
