Is fioricet in the same family as percocet?

Answer:

Not really. Fioricet is usually given for headaches or mild pain and it contains "butalbatol" (sp), and Percocet is given for moderate to severe pain and contains oxycodone. It can be addicting, however, so be careful.

Fioricet is strictly for headaches/migraines only. Percocet is for mild to moderate pain. Fioricet is non addictive and is a sched. VI drug, percocet is a sched II drug. My wife is on Fioricet and Percocet after recently having major brain surgery. She is able to NOT take Fioricet for days at a time with no addictive withdrawal symptoms, even thought the previous day she had to take the full doses of 7-8 a day. . Percocet and Fioricet ARE NOT in the same family, there is no "not really" they just aren't...

(actually YES Fioricet can be 100% addicting)
Fioricet contains a combination of acetaminophen, butalbital, and caffeine. Butalbital is a barbiturate....and as we all know barbiturates are highly addictive..the reason your wife isn't addictive is because she hasn't been taking them long enough...now on the other hand if ANYONE takes fioricet or any kind of narcotic(barbiturates, pain killers, sleeping pills etc. etc. ) for a long period of time i am 100% positive they will become addicted to the medication..
