Yes, and so are lots of Americans of New England stock. From the information at Ancestry.com they have a common ancestor in the Throckmorton family, from whom George Bush, the Queen Mother (Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon), and the Queen are descended. Oh yes, and yours truly. What difference has this made in my life (in spite of all the conspiracy theories)? I don't know. The fact is that the gene pool in Britain was formed at the end of the last Ice Age from a small stock of people. Afterwards, you can point to connections in historical time, but the reality is that people from that place (even those with a lot of German nobility and French kings in their line) have plenty of the common people in their lineage. So while I am a ninth cousin of George, I take no pride or shame in it. It is just kind of ironic. But I leave the last word for the wise Queen (wise in the ways of humanity). When approached at some gathering of the Anglo-American tribe somewhere in the South, a young boy approached her and said he was related to her. Ew, no, absolutely not. Kate's father is English and her mother is Irish. As far as I know, none of her family has ever ggone to America.
